The interest in WELL™ certification is increasing in Canada, with over 200 WELL v2 projects now registered. The WELL Building Standard, provided by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI)™, is a certification system designed for measuring and monitoring improved built environments that consider human health and wellbeing through the elements of air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.
Project teams pursuing dual certification with LEED and WELL will benefit from the new guidance released by IWBI and the USGBC. Any project using both WELL v2 and LEED v4/4.1 BD+C (or LEED v4/4.1 ID+C), may follow the crosswalks for credit compliance to leverage one certification for the other, saving time and resources.
New tools include a LEED + WELL Streamlined Certification Process Guide, crosswalks for credits between LEED and WELL, and new submittal forms. Additionally, a detailed FAQ has been prepared. To check out these resources, see USGBC’s process summary resource page. For more information on WELL, please visit IWBI’s WELL website.
