Voting begins for Board of Directors election

In January, CAGBC Members were advised that the nomination process for the 2025 election of the CAGBC Board of Directors seats had begun, and information on the nominating process and packages were shared.

Nominations were received and the Nomination Committee, appointed by the Canada Green Building Council Board of Directors, has reviewed all applications to prepare a slate of qualified candidates for the 2025 election.

This year, four (4) seats are open for election.

The Nomination Committee decided to:

  1. acclaim the Professional Firms (architect), the Construction, and Not-for-Profit Organizations and Industry Associations seats; and
  2. present the 2025 slate of two candidates for the At-Large seat.

Voting will run from March 24, 2025 to April 18, 2025.

At Large: Organizations with vested interest in supporting a sustainable, zero carbon built environment. (1 seat)

Xavier Biot
Vice President, Digital Energy & Power Products
Schneider Electric

Xavier Biot is a dedicated leader with a passion for sustainability. As Vice President of Digital Energy & Power Products, he helps building owners, operators, and tenants make their buildings more sustainable, efficient, and user-centric. Xavier believes that digitization is key to a sustainable future and envisions a world where energy efficiency is fully implemented.

He is also passionate about people, focusing on maximizing their skills and ideas to build successful, diverse teams. Xavier is committed to customer satisfaction, helping them achieve their goals for a better planet.

Prior to his current role, Xavier held various positions within Schneider Electric in Latin America, Belgium, and the Pacific. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and resides in Canada since June 2023.

Paul Greven
Head of Legal/Senior Director
Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL)

Paul Greven is a business leader and 20+PQE lawyer admitted as a solicitor in: i) Ontario, Canada ii) England and Wales (non-practicing) and iii) the Cayman Islands.

Paul’s principal areas of practice include corporate/commercial law, hotels, mixed use real estate development, commercial leasing and mergers & acquisitions. Paul also has considerable experience advising on employment/HR, procurement (RFPs), IP, compliance and corporate social responsibility matters.

Paul has extensively published and spoken on behalf of the UN with respect to the topics of anti-corruption and best practices for general counsel to consider when seeking to drive the sustainability agenda with their respective board of directors, including co-authoring the UN publication “Guide for General Counsel – how to influence the board of directors to drive sustainability. This work, in partnership with Helle Bank Jorgensen, helped drive the creation of Competent Boards.

Voting Procedures

Voting will take place online from March 24, 2025 to April 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM PT. Please note that only one vote should be cast for one candidate under each seat category by each member organization. An email notification will be sent to your organization’s designated voting or main contact, who may vote at any time within the voting window by clicking on the link in the email. If your organization has not received a notification to vote or if you need to clarify voter eligibility, please contact governance@cagbc.org.
