Rating System/Standard
LEED v5

The newest set of LEED v5 rating system drafts are ready for a second public comment and review. This second public comment period is open from September 27 to October 28 at 5 p.m. ET.

In spring 2024, the first LEED v5 public comment period received nearly 6,000 comments—critical feedback from a diverse community of individuals and organizations around the world. CAGBC’s committees provided nearly five percent of those comments (274). Comments were reviewed and responded to by the USGBC LEED volunteers and staff responsible for the rating system. The drafts were then updated based on your feedback.

What’s CAGBC’s role?

CAGBC supports the continuing evolution of LEED to better address the needs and goals of our membership and market. CAGBC has organized stakeholder-based LEED v5 Accelerator groups that along with our Technical Advisory Groups and LEED Advisory Committee, will conduct a detailed review and assemble Canadian feedback.

We invite you to join the conversation and participate in the second public comment. View the updates listed below and let us know your thoughts.

Resources

Read the rating system and comment, using either the credit library or a LEEDuser forum.

How to comment:

  • Send your feedback to CAGBC’s LEED Coach Canada, where it will be reviewed by our committees and staff, informing our  feedback to the USGBC. This must be done by October 21, 2024, to allow incorporation into our review. CAGBC will provide consolidated and summarized feedback to USGBC, not individual feedback.
  • Provide feedback directly to the USGBC in the LEED credit library by October 28, 5 p.m. ET
  • LEEDuser discussion forums: Join any of the LEEDuser forums to record a comment before October 28, 5 p.m. ET
    • In the LEED credit library, select “v5 – Public Comment 2” in the list of versions, then select the rating system.
    • Select a credit to review.
    • Each credit has a Comment button that opens a box for feedback. You will need to sign in to your usgbc.org account to submit your comment.
