Accelerating the switch to green buildings requires many hands across the building sector. Helping us in our mission is CAGBC’s volunteer Board of Directors. This year, four seats on the CAGBC Board will be open for election to a three-year term. They are:
- Government & Policy: Federal, provincial, or local government agencies or departments responsible for setting and/or implementing policy, and/or overseeing government building portfolios.
- Professional Firms: Representing firms offering professional services. (e.g., engineering, surveying). In 2023, the seat assigned to an engineering professional is open for election.
- Academia & Research: Representing academic and/or research institutions.
- Real Estate Owners & Developers: Representing organizations with vested financial interest in buildings as owners or developers. In 2023, the seat assigned to commercial building asset managers is open for election.
CAGBC’s Board draws on members from across the building sector and regions of Canada. Their collective knowledge and experience aids CAGBC in advancing the adoption of green buildings and sustainable practices. As a result, they play an important role in delivering on the promise of green buildings: lower emissions, reduced environmental impact, economic benefits, jobs, and healthier, more resilient communities.
Those interested in applying for the open seats are encouraged to review the Nominations Package before completing the Statement of Qualifications and Interest form on or before March 3, 2023 (11:59 PM, PST).
All submissions are reviewed by the Nominations Committee, which may conduct candidate interview to ensure the nominating criteria and the eligibility requirements are met. The Nominations Committee prepares a slate comprised of the most qualified candidates for election, and voting will run from April 3, 2023 to April 28, 2023. Please note that the Committee may acclaim seats or include more than one candidate for each seat in the slate.
CAGBC’s strength is its members and stakeholders, and their passion for sustainability. We are committed to Board diversity and inclusion and encourage qualified professionals from all backgrounds to apply.
All candidates will be contacted in March regarding the status of their submission. For any questions, please email us at governance@cagbc.org.
