Job Purpose

Reporting to the President and CEO and working with the Chief Commercial Officer, the Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services (VP FCS) leads financial strategy, management and reporting, IT, risk management, and corporate operations at CAGBC. This role is vital in securing CAGBC’s financial sustainability, supporting strategic planning, and overseeing finance/accounting, IT, risk, administration, procurement, and facility management.
The VP of Finance and Corporate Services will be a forward-thinking leader with a strong track record of in finance and technology space. As an executive leadership team member, the VP will ensure coordinated delivery with other senior leaders across business lines.

Responsibilities

Finance

  • Advise executive leadership, the Audit and Finance Committee, and the Board on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, investments, and risk.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and multi-year financial outlooks, assessing revenue and expenses, market impacts, and risks to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Direct all financial functions, including accounting, planning, credit, insurance, taxation, and treasury, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Support the CEO on financial strategy and the CCO on business execution, providing insights into financial trends and business data.
  • Act as Chief Security Officer, maintaining oversight of privacy and legislative compliance.

Technology and Corporate Services

  • Define IT infrastructure and systems strategies aligned with business goals and cybersecurity needs.
  • Guide digital transformation initiatives, providing insights into IT trends to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure implementation and evaluation of new technologies, focusing on cybersecurity and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee IT service and tool sourcing, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and security.
  • Lead the development of IT systems and policies that support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Direct and lead business compliance for CAGBC, including Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, facilities and staff security clearance, and required corporate filings.
  • Oversee office operations, facility management and procurement practices, including developing, communicating and implementing corporate guidelines and procedures, managing office accommodations and capital planning, and responding to workplace business solutions and support needs

Management and Operations

  • As part of the senior leadership team, contribute to the development and implementation of corporate strategic and operating plans, and develop and maintain organizational policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of FCS team development and growth aspects, including day-to-day functions related to planning, performance, budgets, human resources, and client interactions.
  • Provide team members with direction, mentoring, technical guidance, and support for their professional development.
  • Prepare reports, provide information and recommendations to the Board as required.

Required Experience
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or CMA or MBA)
  • Master’s degree
  • Over 10 years experience in a senior financial and IT role
  • Extensive experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors
  • French language skills are an asset

  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and aligning financial activities with organizational goals.
  • Strong understanding of accepted accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
